Iowa Methodist Medical Center, a service of UnityPoint Health – Des Moines is located in downtown Des Moines on a 42-acre campus, employing nearly 4,000 people.

In 1956 they were the first to perform open-heart surgery outside of the Mayo Clinic and opened the first radiation therapy department in Des Moines.
