Infant Food And Bottle Warmers Recalled Due To Flame
A product designed to safely warm bottles and food for infants has turned out to be a fire hazard. The “Deluxe Bottle and Food Warmer,” manufactured by Munchkin Inc., of North Hills, California was recalled on Thursday after several reports of the product igniting in flame.
The company joined the Consumer Product Safety commission in announcing the recall, which applies to approximately 5,000 units sold over a 10 month period for roughly $20 apiece. Munchkin Inc. sold the product through their catalog and through nationwide retailers from June of 2007 to April of 2008.
The product is recalled because it can overheat while in use, causing fire to occur. Munchkin says that no injuries have yet been reported, but at least nine food warmers have overheated, and several damaged counter tops before they were put out.
If you have a Munchkin food and bottle warmer (2-1 with a pacifier cleaning basket) with the lot number “TP-1487″ on the bottom, stop using it immediately and contact the company for information on receiving a free replacement. Munchkin Inc. is available by phone at (866) 619-8673 and online at Munchkin.com.
