Dune Buggy Recalled For Defective Seat Belts
Hundreds of dune buggies were recalled earlier this week after a rider suffered nerve damage in an accident caused by a malfunctioning seat belt. The recall comes as a joint announcement from TJ Power Sports, a Texas-based company, and the Consumer Product Safety Commission. The “Twister Hammerhead” dune buggy was sold all across the country, as well as online from July 2004 to December 2004 for approximately $3,000.
The “Twister Hammerhead” poses an ejection hazard because the seat belt can break during an impact or when stress is applied. The buggies that are recalled came in red, blue and green. Consumers should check the bar behind the driver and passenger seats. If the name “Twister Hammerhead” appears along with model number UM150IIR and model year 2004 are all present, stop using theĀ buggy immediately.
If you have a recalled dune buggy, contact TJ Power Sports either online or by phone to learn how you can receive a replacement seatbelt. They can be contact at (877) 857-7678 (Monday-Friday 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Central time) or at www.tjpowersports.com
