Help is Available for a DUI Charge

Just look at the definition of a DUI -   DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL OR DRUGS OR A COMBINATION OF BOTH.  It’s a Class A Misdemeanor!  Do not be fooled by the term misdemeanor.  A Rock Island DUI charge is one that can cost you not only a lot of money, but it could also cost you your job, depending on what you do for a living.  It will definitely affect your lifestyle unless you can afford a private chauffeur for the three or six month suspension of your driver’s license (for the first time offender).
There are many who have “had a few” when going with friends.  A lot of people think they feel just fine to drive home, and have learned the hard way they were so very wrong.  A BAC (blood alcohol level) test is not a hard one to fail as the State has imposed strict liability if you are above .08.   Just a few beers, depending on your body weight and you will fail.  You do not need to feel intoxicated or even “buzzed” to fail a BAC.

Everyone knows that you can be charged with DUI while actually driving a vehicle.  However, not everyone knows that you can be charged with a DUI even if you are sitting or sleeping in a parked car.  If the keys are on your person or in the vehicle you are considered in control.
One area of DUI law that many people may not be aware of is driving under the influence of prescription medications.  Although a medicine may be prescribed by a doctor, it does not mean that you may drive while on that medication.  You may not drive under the influence of a controlled substance and prescription medications are controlled under the law.  You should read the label before driving.
If you have the misfortune of being charged with a DUI, there is help available.  You need to have an attorney on your side to help you.   Not only does your attorney have the experience and knowledge of the court process, but they can assist you with the ins and outs of this Criminal Misdemeanor charge.  Best of all, he may even be able to defend the charge!!
Please seek the assistance of an experienced, reputable Rock Island DUI Attorney.   Protect yourself and your rights.
