Whiplash

Whiplash occurs when the neck suffers an impact that causes the head to be "snapped," or moved quickly in a direction opposite the direction of impact. It is also known as "soft tissue" injury or as cervical acceleration/deceleration (CAD) trauma or syndrome. Because the human body is small and delicate as compared to large solid objects like automobiles, something often gives or breaks when there is a sudden, forceful impact. Many times, the neck is the victim of the impact because the human head is fairly heavy in relation to the neck. In a car accident, you have no time to brace yourself to prevent whiplash.

There are many problems associated with whiplash, and the injury may go unnoticed for a few days before symptoms become evident. Damage to the nerves, muscles, joints and discs of the neck are commonly associated with whiplash. Accidents can also cause bruising of the brain in extreme cases. These injuries may include dizziness, headache, pain in the body and arms, and, in the case of brain injury, blurred vision, tinnitus, nausea, vertigo, and numbness. Long-term pain and disability can be the results of these types of injuries.

If you or a loved one has suffered an injury, permanent damage or death due to whiplash from an accident or other impact, call VanDerGinst Law at 1-866-843-7367 or click here for a FREE online case evaluation. The initial consultation is free of charge. If we agree to handle your injury case, we will work on a contingency fee basis, which means we get paid for our services only if, and when, there is a money recovery for you. In many cases a lawsuit must be filed before an applicable expiration date, known as a statute of limitations. So please call right away to ensure that you do not waive your right to possible compensation.
